Title: Testing speed and coordination skills in the military environment: a systematic review Objective: Based on a literature search, find out which tests of speed and coordination skills are used in foreign armies. Methods: The presented work is done in the form of a systematic review. Web of Science, Scopus and PubMed databases were selected for searching articles. The search was performed using two search scripts, the first focused on speed and the second on coordination skills. 439 and 297 studies were retrieved from the search scripts and unsystematic searches. These studies were subsequently screened and removed according to the systematic search procedure. After final removal, 33 studies remained for speed and 23 for coordination. Results: The highest representation was found in tests focused on a combination of speed and coordination skills, especially agility tests. Of these, the most used tests are the Illinois Agility Test, the Pro-Agility Test, the 3x5 m shuttle run and the 15 m slalom. The second most represented group is the speed tests, which focus on sprints over various distances. There are 8 different tests in total, with the 20, 30 and 15 m sprints being the most represented. Andresová, Klára ; Šedivá Koldinská, Marie (advisor) ; Ďurčanský, Marek (referee)
The subject of this thesis is the problematics of the military camps of Christian armies in the Central Europe between 1550-1650. We focus on the camps of the Habsburg Monarchy and German lands, yet some space is given to the situation in Poland and Hungary. The introductory chapters consist of a characterization of the source material and an overview of the present state of research. Furthermore, excursuses into several topics related to the military camps of the early modern period are made. Thus, characterizations of the crucial war conflicts of the period, contemporary strategies and tactics, principals, composition and equipment of the armies, of the ranks, and of the life of soldiers are provided. The core of this work is an interpretation and comparison of treatises written by military theorists, who dealt with the problematics of camps, namely of the works by Jan Tarnowski, Guillaume du Bellay, Leonhardt Fronsperger, Lazarus von Schwendi, Giorgio Basta, Johann Jacobi von Wallhausen, and Raimondo Montecuccoli. Additionally, an analysis of the military orders of the Roman emperor Maximilian II and of the Swedish king Gustav II Adolf is supplied, followed by memoirs and diaries of soldiers of that era, and contemporary literary fiction. Although the thesis includes brief characterizations of...
Specific behaviour of soldiers towards reproductives of termite genus Prorhinotermes (Isoptera: Rhinotermitidae).
Dolejšová, Klára ; Šobotník, Jan (advisor) ; Klimeš, Petr (referee)
Soldier caste is the oldest altruistic caste in termites, highly specialized for defensive tasks. Therefore, a number of adaptations in anatomy and behaviour can be observed in soldier, lacking in other termite castes. The aim of this study was to verify the hypothesis that in disturbed groups the soldiers will prefer to stand by and defend the reproductives, the most valuable individuals. Therefore, I studied in two species of the genus Prorhinotermes (P. simplex and P. canalifrons) the ability of soldiers to discriminate neotenic reproductives and provide them with defence. In agreement with the initial hypothesis, the soldiers of both species prooved to be able of an instantaneous recognition of reproductives and remained close to them. In P. simplex, the neotenic female was the most attractive individual, while in P. canalifrons, neotenics of both sexes were equally attractive. The observed preference of reproductives appears to occur only with a certain age of the reproductives in incipient colonies, along with their sexual maturation. Caste specificity of cuticular lipids supports the presumption that the caste recognition is based on olphactoric cues in the cuticle of reproductives.
Mobilization of the Austro-Hungarian Army during the Great War in the Czech Lands
Jordán, Roman ; Čížek, Martin (advisor) ; Velek, Luboš (referee)
During the entire Great War, Austria-Hungary mobilized more than one and a half million men in the Czech lands. Out of service in the Austro-Hungarian army, a third never returned home. Czechs and Germans - the greatest nations represented in the Czech lands of the time - fought and suffered side by side on the Great War fronts. Yet only part of them were honoured at the end of the war. The newly created Czechoslovakia built its existence on a new, legitimate image of the Great War, as a struggle for the freedom and independence of the Czechs, represented by Czechoslovak legionaries. In addition, the grief of the bleeding of an entire generation of men was obscured by the joy of the disintegration of Austria-Hungary and the newly formed Czechoslovak state. The fate and suffering of most Czechs and Germans serving in the Austro-Hungarian army, in the army of their homeland, have been downplayed by the depiction of these soldiers as "Švejkové" or deserters. That is why this work deals exclusively with the experiences of soldiers from Czech lands in the Austro-Hungarian army, by the introduction of their war life, mobilization. The introductory theoretical part introduces the Austro-Hungarian army, including the entire mobilization mechanism, and outlines the development of the Austro-Hungarian...

Nursing Care Of Soldiers In The Surgical Ward
PRÁŠKOVÁ, Eliška
The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of nursing care of soldiers in the surgical department. Based on a qualitative survey, the goal is to determine how the soldiers evaluate the nursing care provided to them and how they are satisfied with it. It also ascertains the nurses' general experience with providing the nursing care. The set goals were achieved through semi-structured interviews conducted with the general nurses working in the surgical department and professional soldiers who experienced the nursing care at the surgical department. Seven nurses and eight soldiers were questioned by using the pencil-and-paper interviewing method. The thesis provides a complete view on the nursing care for soldiers in the surgical department. From the historical point of view, the nursing is closely connected with the soldiers. It describes the structure and organization of this department, including the most common surgical procedures and the nursing care associated with them. The care is specific due to the nature of the surgical procedure and the particular condition of the patient. The bachelor thesis explores the role of the nurse and the patient in connection with the nurse-patient relationship. It maps and explains the legal system of providing the health care to soldiers. The military health care providers must primarily take care of the members of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic and the employees of The Ministry of Defence, and to others only if they do not jeopardize the quality of the care provided to the above mentioned patients. Based on the results of the research, it has been found that the experience of general nursing staff depends on the particular surgical department where they work. The soldiers are more often treated by those employed in a military hospital, which also has a legislative background. Most soldiers met with an adequate and sympathetic attitude from the nurses, although there were also complaints about their unpleasant behaviour or neglected admissions of patients. According the answers, the soldiers seem to be satisfied with the provided care.
